Ran formed the band Izabo when he was 24. The group was picked up by the American label Mondial Music, and the band members spent the next two years playing in clubs throughout the United States. They returned to Israel and in 2003 recorded their very successful debut album, "The Fun Makers," with lyrics and music written by Ran, who was also the producer. The songs, all in English, are a fun mixture of songs in the spirit of 60s and 70s and a touch of the Middle East's oriental sound.
This fusion of influences enables Izabo to embrace a multitude of styles, such as seen In their 2005 TV special, in which they hosted two acclaimed artists with different artistic approaches: Choreographer Ohad Naharin with his own poetic performance "Playback," and eastern music queen Ahuva Ozeri.
